DIY Useful Car Maintenance Hacks by Winter's Auto Service

Sometimes fixing a small car scratch can cost you a lot, So we, auto service experts of Winnipeg ( Winter's Auto Service ) have some useful DIY hacks for you to keep your headlights clean, fix tears in leather, remove bumper stickers, and even extend the range of your wireless car keys and many more. You can do all these things at home.

So let's start:

1. Open Car's Frozen Locks Quickly: Well we all know, how frustrating it can be when you’re trying to head off to work and you realize that your door locks have frozen over. A simple fix is to squirt a bit of hand sanitizer onto the car lock. The alcohol content of the sanitizer will thaw out the ice, and it won’t damage the surrounding paint.

2. Fix Tears in Leather and Vinyl:

a.) 1st start by gluing reinforcing fabric onto the underside of the torn vinyl or leather.

b.) Mix the heat-set filler to match your fabric color and apply it to the tear.

c.) Find a textured mat that most closely resembles the texture of your vinyl or leather and place it onto the liquid filler.

d.) Heat the patching tool with a clothes iron and press it onto the textured mat.

e.) Remove the patching tool, but leave the textured mat in place until the patch cools. Then peel it off.

Simple

3. Use Vinegar For stain removal: The old tale of vinegar reducing stain visibility seems to be true. Sprinkle vinegar on all stained spots, leave it for a 5 to 7 minutes and get your joints do some torquing with soft-bristled brush.

4. Clean Car's Headlights with Toothpaste: Foggy Car's headlights? One of the best way to clean those foggy headlights is surprisingly simple: just use toothpaste. Just take a soft cloth or a soft brush and apply toothpaste over it and now sprinkle water over the headlights and now rub with the toothpaste cloth/brush.

5. Prevent Damaged Wiper Blades from Scratching Your Car's Windshield: The bare or rough wiper blades can scratch your car's windshield, but if you wrap a stocking around the wiper blades, you can prevent your car's windshield. It won’t be as good as a new pair of wiper blades, but it’ll work well enough to save your car's windshield for sometime.

6. Use charcoal on that awful stench in Your Car: Avoid spending on expensive car air fresheners. Put an open bag of charcoal in your car for a few days, it will absorb all funky odors from your car.

7. Increase the Range of Your Wireless Keys: If you’re too far away from your car to use your wireless keys and you need to unlock it, then hold your car's keys underneath your chin while holding your mouth open, you’ll turn your head into what is essentially a human satellite—the fluids in your body will act as a range extender.

8. Remove Small Dents with This Common Bathroom Accessory: If you have a small dent in the side of your vehicle, then there is no need to get it fixed from a shop. You might actually be able to pull it out by using a bathroom plunger. Affix the plunger to the car's dent and gently pull back.

9. Remove Bumper Stickers Easily: To remove the bumper sticker - wet down an old newspaper and stick it over the bumper sticker. And now wait 15 or 20 minutes and come back to scrape it off. And here you have clean bumper.
